In order to be considered eligible for any of the above scholarships, students should have a high degree of motivation and independence, and should be able to demonstrate a reasonable level of personal achievement. Students must be:

  • Blind or partially sighted (less than 20/70 corrected vision)
  • A secondary school graduate entering post-secondary education;
  • A Canadian citizen or have held landed immigrant status for one year prior to the date of application

Application process

Students who submit an application are automatically entered into competition for all CNIB Scholarships. Each applicant must submit only one completed application form to be considered for all available scholarships. Recipients will be determined by the CNIB Scholarship Selection Committee in accordance with its application procedures.

Along with a completed application form, applicants must also submit:

  • An eye report from an optometrist or ophthalmologist
  • At least one letter of reference from a teacher or school official
  • An indication of graduation from a secondary education program and
  • An essay of no more than two pages on the topic “My abilities vs. my disability”

E.H. Horne School Bursary

The E. H. Horne School Preservation Society is a non-profit organization that took over the former E. H. Horne School in Enfield in 2001. The Society has been the fortunate recipient of generous donations that have enabled the Society to establish bursaries. These bursaries (2) in the amount of $500.00 each, are being offered to graduating students of Hants East Rural High School.

Qualifying students are encouraged to apply based on the following criteria: will be graduating from Hants East Rural High School in 2018, attended the E.H. Horne School or who had a sibling, parent or grandparent who attended the school and will be attending a Canadian trade-school, community college, or university in the fall of 2018. Students pursuing other educational endeavours will also be considered.

Students should contact their school guidance office for more information or call the number provided below. Deadline for applications is May 31, 2018 and must include a copy of the student's transcript.

The 1.6 million Canadians working in the Tourism Sector have many faces…people working in accommodation, food and beverage services, recreation and entertainment, transportation and travel services.

The Nova Scotia Tourism Human Resource Council offers three Tourism Scholarships for graduating high school students pursuing post secondary education in tourism.

Soccer Nova Scotia is pleased to offer university entrance scholarships to outstanding members of Soccer Nova Scotia. The recipient must commence post-secondary studies at a Canadian university or college in the same year the award is presented.

Soccer Nova Scotia scholarships are entrance scholarships and are not renewable. The scholarships are awarded for one academic year, payable after September 7th upon proof of registration at a university or college. Successful recipients of Soccer Nova Scotia scholarships must agree that a promotional photograph of themselves can be used for promotional purposes.

Windsor Agricultural Society Scholarship Committee Aug. 31, 2018 $2,500

 

To be eligible for this Scholarship the applicant must be:

- a resident of Hants County

- be accepted in a recognized Agricultural or Veterinarian School or be presently enrolled in such an institution.

- have aspirations of working in the Agricultural Industry.

For purposes of assessing applicants the Scholarship Committee requires transcripts of the most recent terms marks.  Applicants are also asked to outline their plans for the future, extracurricular activities and any part-time employment.

The amount of the Scholarship will be $2500.00.  The winner of this Scholarship will be announced at the opening ceremonies of the Hants County Exhibition.
